St. Luke is a growing parish in Smyrna who dreamed of expanding for many years. In 2013, work began on a master plan which ultimately identified the paramount location to place a new sanctuary. Light, site circulation, presence on Old Nashville Highway and maintaining the community that has developed when the church first began were objectives for the design team and building committee.
The new sanctuary and narthex connect to the existing building at the social hall and will seat 600. Wood glulam arches with wood decked ceiling give the space the warmth desired. A new sacristy, cry room, storage and restrooms have all been included in the new building. The design was planned to accommodate future growth with the ability to add 200-400 more seats over time. A future chapel was also noted on the master plan.
