MTSU is one of the oldest and largest public universities in the area. Its growth has been unprecedented in the last decade. The last master plan completed at the campus was 2007. Many of the goals stated at that time had been reached and comprehensive plan update was needed. New goals for the upcoming years were stated to enhance academic quality, foster student-centered learning, and leverage resources through partnerships. Some areas of focus and recommendations were to provide enhanced outdoor areas/quads, promote appropriate infill development with existing facilities, enhance the historic west campus, and create learning centers within a 10 minute walk for all.

Centric worked with Perkins and Will to assess the existing building conditions on the campus and help understand how buildings/areas should be preserved, used in the future, or repurposed/removed based on its condition and contribution to the campus.
