Sandwiched between the railroad tracks and Ellington Parkway, the newly renovated Laurel & Pine seeks to provide a new community amenity to the ever-changing East Nashville landscape. What was once a conglomerate of old warehouse space, that most recently served as a mattress recycling facility, now becomes a 23,000 SF hub of retail, restaurant and office space.

Strategic demolition of the existing buildings creates a new gateway between the neighborhood and new adjacent multifamily development, while drawing people into the site. The preservation of the existing barrel vaults and trusses within the space along with the colorful reimagination of the CMU facade gives new life to this mixed-use development, all without neglecting the buildings industrial heritage.  New landscaping and outdoor patios help to frame vistas, activate the exterior and bring a more pedestrian scale to the transforming industrial area.
