The Sheds on Charlotte was initially a conversion of 3 former TDOT maintenance shed buildings near downtown Nashville into a creative office campus. Centric Architecture’s involvement in this exciting project has continued to evolve over time. Originally commissioned to design the interior build-outs of the 2 main buildings on the campus, consisting of 36,000 SF, the commission has grown to include shell and interior updates to an existing outbuilding, and several additional site and massing studies of the remaining area, from single tenant retail components to multi-story office buildings. The original commission included interior build out of 36,000 sf for ForceX, Inc., a company that develops surveillance software for military aircraft.

Originally located in Clarksville, Tennessee, ForceX realized that their mission was being compromised because of difficulty with recruiting talent with the skills needed for this highly technical field. They decided to move to Nashville and commissioned Centric Architecture to design an engaging, hip, industrial-modern workspace to help them recruit the best tech and computer minds in the country, and better position the company as a leader in the technology market. The space includes collaborative “scrum pods,” a large central gathering area that serves as both entertaining venue as well as day-to-day employee lounge, and a technically advanced Software Integration Lab (SIL) that allows employees to test their software in real- time.
