Nonprofit eyes affordable housing project for 12South-area site

A residential building seemingly to offer affordable units is planned for a site located near 12South.

According to a permit application with the Metro Codes Department, the future five-story structure will offer 79 residences and offer an address of 1429 12th Ave. S. The permit will allow for construction of an 86,500-square-foot apartment building.

Nashville-based nonprofit Woodbine Community Organization Inc. (WCO) owns the 0.84-acre property, having paid $1,062,500 for it in 2009, Metro records note.

WCO provides affordable housing for various groups, including military veterans, individuals transitioning from homelessness and incarceration, and people who qualify for Section 8 vouchers.
