Citizens Savings Bank & Trust helping to revitalize historic Jefferson Street

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Jefferson Street continues to make history as Citizens Savings Bank & Trust works with a developer to build a new headquarters and mixed-use multifamily housing.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the project, called Renaissance on Jefferson, was held Friday morning with bank leaders, developer KNGDM Group and community members all in attendance.

Both buildings will reportedly take up 1.4 acres of land located at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Dr. DB Todd Jr. Boulevard.

“Those are the things that move the economic needle in areas like North Nashville,” said KNGDM Developer Derrick Morgan. “I was blessed enough to leverage my platform and my relationships to really pull together what I think is really special.”

Not only is Morgan the developer of the project, he is also a former Tennessee Titan. He explained that the project will continue Jefferson’s Street legacy of economic and cultural advancement.

Citizens Savings Bank & Trust’s current headquarters is very close to their new site. The bank opened in 1904 to help African Americans have access to a financial institution.
