Citizens Savings Bank and Trust has announced plans to move its Nashville headquarters to a Jefferson Street site, the development of which is scheduled to break ground this month.
The 121-year-old bank — which ranks among the country’s oldest continuously operating Black-owned banks — will be the anchor tenant for Renaissance on Jefferson, a multi-use development with an address of 1734 Jefferson St. and located across the street from the Fisk University campus.
Citizens Savings Bank has operated from its location at 2013 Jefferson St. for the past 45 years. At one time, the bank has a presence in downtown Nashville in the Citizens Plaza tower. Located at 400 Deaderick St. and sitting on 0.57 acres, the 15-story tower opened in 1985 and stands almost 200 feet.
According to the company, the relocation will allow the bank to combine its current location on Jefferson and its administrative offices into one space.
