WilsonSonja

Architect

From an early age Sonja was passionate about architecture. In fact, she knew that she wanted to be an Architect since the age of 4, where she drew house plans with crayons! During her college years, she worked for an architecture firm in Memphis during her summers and seasonal breaks. After earning her Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee, she made the big move to Des Moines, Iowa and worked on many historic rehabilitation projects in the downtown district. After working in Iowa for three years –including 3 brutal winters--and gaining her license in architecture, she missed her Southern roots and returned to her home state of Tennessee. Sonja’s drive for architecture stems from the impact and the influences it has on shaping one’s memories and culture. Any well-designed building can have a profound effect on the lives that encounter that building. Sonja feels that it is an honor to be an architect because she is able to touch people’s lives in a positive way through design.

Enjoys quilting, hiking and spending time with friends and family.

By the age of 26, Sonja had been to 26 countries.

In college, she studied abroad in Krakow, Poland for a semester.
